Hi, I’m Wilson — founder, host, collector, and unapologetic fan of old-school action cinema.
I was born in 1975, grew up in the South East of England, and like a lot of kids in the ’80s and ’90s, I was completely hooked on American pop culture. Especially action films and TV shows — Lethal Weapon, Magnum PI, Miami Vice, Die Hard, The A-Team, Scarface, Terminator, and all the rest.
It wasn’t just the explosions or the guns (though, let’s be honest, those were great too) — it was the heroes that stuck with me. The good guy with a moral compass. The sense of justice. The idea that doing the right thing still meant something. That the good guy gets the girl, saves the day, and things turn out okay in the end.
That worldview made a lasting impact. And like a good pilgrim chasing the American dream, I eventually emigrated to the U.S., where I’ve spent years building a personal firearms collection — one that I gradually realized was made up almost entirely of the guns I saw on screen growing up.
How the Channel Was Born
When I started showing these old films and shows to my own kids, I noticed something:
Modern content just doesn’t cut it.
Too much irony. Too little substance. No real role models. And none of that grounded, gritty charm that defined the pre-2000 era. The characters and stories that shaped me weren’t just fun — they were aspirational.
As I searched YouTube I realized: no one else was really doing this. Not the way I wanted to see it — with history, humor, real-world context, and respect for both the films and the firearms.
So I launched HollywoodGuns Youtube channel to fill that gap.

The channel (and now this site) is where I break down the guns used in classic movies and TV — from big-name hero weapons to rare screen-used cameos — all sourced from my collection, with help from trusted collaborators like Bear Arms and other collectors.
